A Guide to Visiting Wynwood Neighborhood in Miami

IMG_0322.jpg

Traveling to a city is pretty foreign to us; traveling via airplane is even more out of the ordinary. It is in our nature to take long road trips in our extremely tiny Prius, with hiking and camping gear stacked to the roof. However, to save time and to experience Miami to its fullest, we decided to take a hybrid city/national park trip where we flew our camping and hiking gear down with us and rented a car for the week. Our first stop on our journey was the vibrant city of Miami.

What Neighborhoods Should I Visit In Miami?

We really loved Little Havana (where our hotel was located) for the Latin American culture. We wish we would have had more time to spend in this beautiful and vibrant neighborhood. We spent the most time in Wynwood, an artsy neighborhood in Miami, and full of eclectic shops, breweries, and chic restaurants. The most popular attraction is the free outdoor art gallery, Wynwood Walls. Just make sure you check the signs where you park, unless you want a hefty parking ticket (oops).

Where Should I Stay While Visiting Miami?

There are of course, many amazing neighborhoods and accommodations to stay in while visiting Miami, but we absolutely loved our hotel. We stayed in Little Havana, in the Life House hotel (pictured above), aptly named for the neighborhood where it is located. We loved the retro style rooms, lush and relaxing courtyard, and location. Since we have visited, they have added a rooftop oasis with a bar, perfect for sipping a drink while you sunbathe among the plants.

Where Should I Get Coffee in Miami?

We are both coffee addicts, so I insisted that we search for some good coffee at soon as we woke up that morning. We decided to trek through the artsy Wynwood neighborhood where all the cool kids hang out. You can sit inside or outside at Panther Coffee and if you buy a bag of beans, you get any coffee drink for free. I had a pour-over coffee, which was delicious.

Where Should I Eat While in Miami?

For lunch we stopped at Coyo Taco, which is located right next to Panther Coffee. I opted for the nopales tacos, which are no longer on their menu. They were absolutely delicious, although a bit pricey. For dessert we tried Pink Pie nearby, which has the cutest little pies around. They always have a vegan & gluten free pie available, and the flavor of the day happened to be my favorite; coconut. They had a huge variety of flavors and was absolutely delicious, leaving me wanting about 10 more.

What is the Best Brewery in Miami?

We tried several breweries while in Miami and Veza Sur was our favorite. With their outdoor/indoor seating areas and tropical plants throughout the entire brewery, we felt like we were in an oasis. We liked it so much that we tried to come back again a few days later before our return trip home, and they were closed for the day. They have a plethora of beers and beer cocktails. We tried a beer flight and we liked every beer we tried. The beer cocktail was definitely unique and not something we have seen before at a brewery (although they are becoming more popular).
